Nostalgic for the taste of home after moving from New York to Detroit, Angela Chi launched Chi Fan Le, or 吃饭了, a Chinese food experience.
She joined BasBlue in 2022, drawn by a community built on inspiration and collaboration. Through the Zero-to-One Fellowship, she found mentorship that helped her turn ambition into action, executing the steps that led to her first brick-and-mortar and setting her business up to scale. The fellowship, she says, offers far more than funding: the connections and guidance are what make it invaluable, and why she encourages others to apply.
Angela’s relationship with BasBlue didn’t end when the fellowship did. She went on to become a Chef in Residence Partner, curating a menu for about five months and introducing BasBlue’s audience to her culture through food.
Her journey has come full circle. Once a Trailblazer in Residence scholarship recipient, Angela is now a paying member, hosting curated tea hangs that bring new community into the space.
