BasBlue's Mission

BasBlue is a non-profit organization, made possible by The BasBlue Foundation, dedicated to advancing economic mobility by providing valuable resources for personal and professional developmental growth to underrepresented and under-resourced women and non-binary individuals in Southeast Michigan. Resources include but are not limited to access to educational programming, networking, mentorship, business opportunities and capital.

Our Vision

Community is at the heart
of everything we do.

Through The BasBlue Foundation’s financial support made possible by the community—members, donors, and corporate partners—we can elevate and empower underrepresented aspiring and new business owners and equip them with the necessary resources to build businesses that will create positive social impact.

Our BasBlue membership community has grown to encompass over 675+ diverse members in Southeast Michigan. Members include emerging and established entrepreneurs, industry leaders, creatives, authors, executives, volunteers, educators, and more. Together, we are striving to create pathways and open doors for everyone.

BasBlue Defined

A name steeped in women's history.

BasBlue (def; a woman having intellectual or literary interests, a bluestocking) is rooted in generations of trailblazers, gathering in studios, shops, and salons for ‘intellectual conversation, witty banter, and to enjoy society in undress.’

Our History

BasBlue and it’s Detroit origins.

Detroit is tough, resourceful, and proud—a diverse and complex city with an unwavering commitment to community. At the heart of that community are women and non-binary individuals of all ages, backgrounds, ambitions, and interests. They’re leading when it comes to starting businesses, building careers, starting families, and driving change. It is these individuals who have made Detroit the number one ranked city in the US for underrepresented gender-led businesses, outpacing all other cities.

It is for these women and non-binary individuals – past, present, and future – that we have created our nonprofit organization, BasBlue. Paying homage to the paths paved before us, and forging new pathways for those to come.

Across every aspect of our space and community, BasBlue is dedicated to inclusivity, diversity, and the belief that we are strongest when together.

SUPPORT BASBLUE IN 2025

Since we opened our doors in 2021, BasBlue has helped over 700 women and non-binary individuals each year overcome gender-based inequities, find support, develop professionally, and find a place to belong–and our future is bright.

In 2025, we’re designing experiences that amplify women and non-binary leaders’ potential, and we can’t do it without your help.
