Description

In honor of Women’s History Month gather at BasBlue for a fireside chat with Lynda Blackmon Lowery. Lynda is a civil rights marcher, activist, speaker and author. Lynda’s involvement in civil rights began at an early age. In 1965 she was the youngest person on the frontlines of the march from Selma to Montgomery and to complete the march. This march became known as Bloody Sunday due to Linda and other marchers being beaten on the Edmund Pettus Bridge. Detroit is home to many civil rights icons and the city itself played a significant role in the Civil Rights Movement. Lynda will be joining us at BasBlue to share her experience in the Civil Rights Movement. Let’s honor not only a Civil Rights icon but an extraordinary woman during Women’s History Month. The program will conclude with a mixer.
