BasBlue is dedicated to advancing economic mobility by providing valuable resources for personal and professional development to underrepresented and under-resourced women and non-binary individuals in Southeast Michigan. For Sierra Boone, founder of Boone Productions, that mission showed up in a very tangible way.
Last year, Sierra spent six months in BasBlue’s Zero-to-One fellowship. Showing up weekly, learning directly from experts, and shaping her business around the market she was actually building for.
That relationship didn’t end when the program did. When BasBlue was planning for Bold Women Health Day, they thought of her — inviting Boone Productions to create kid activations for an event bringing together families, children, and wellness-minded attendees. It’s the kind of introduction that can change a company’s trajectory, and it’s exactly the kind of support Sierra says makes an entrepreneurial ecosystem thrive.

“I want to publicly thank BasBlue for something that seems small, but isn’t.
Last year, I spent six months in one of their founder programs. Like most entrepreneurs, I showed up every week, listened, learned, tested ideas, and figured out which advice fit the market I was actually building for.
Those programs matter because they sharpen founders and build relationships.
And when founders succeed, the organizations that invested in them succeed too. That’s what a healthy entrepreneurial ecosystem looks like. Growth is shared.
That’s also why I think one of the greatest ways an entrepreneur support organization can support a founder is beautifully simple: Help them get in front of their target audience.
Businesses grow because customers say yes.
A thoughtful introduction, an invitation to the right event, or a chance to serve the right audience can change the trajectory of a company.
BasBlue did exactly that.
They recognized that Bold Women Health Day would bring together families, children, and wellness-invested individuals. They remembered what Boone Productions is building, and invited us to create kid activations for the event. That kind of support sticks with founders (or, at least, it sticks with ME).
It also strengthens the ecosystem because organizations get to watch the businesses they’ve invested in create real impact in the community.
