joyful, feminine designs for modern women. Since launching her namesake brand in
New York City in 1998, Reese has built a career spanning over two decades, with
successful sub-brands including Plenty, Frock!, and Black Label. Her collections have
been featured in leading retailers like Barney’s, Bergdorf Goodman, Nordstrom, and
Anthropologie. Reese’s designs have been worn by icons such as First Lady Michelle
Obama, who wore a custom Tracy Reese dress at the 2012 Democratic National
Convention, as well as Sarah Jessica Parker and Oprah Winfrey.
A longtime member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), Reese
serves on its Board of Directors and chairs the Sustainable Strategies Committee and
Black Advisory Board. She also serves on boards, including the NEST Artisan Guild,
the College for Creative Studies, and Remake Our World, and has advised the United
Nations’ Conscious Fashion Campaign.
In 2019, Reese relocated to her hometown of Detroit and launched Hope for Flowers
by Tracy Reese, a sustainable, responsibly produced brand. Hope for Flowers
champions slow fashion, local garment production, and community impact through
arts education and apprenticeship programs, empowering Detroit’s underserved
communities.
Robin Terry, Motown Musuem
Robin has devoted the past two decades to carrying the torch for one of Detroit’s most notable entrepreneurial families and preserving the legacy of an iconic brand, “Motown.”
Robin is the Chairwoman of Motown Museum, a cultural gem founded in 1985 by her grandmother, the late Esther Gordy Edwards. Mrs. Edwards was a senior executive at Motown Record’s and the sister of Motown founder, Berry Gordy.
Robin’s mission is to build on her grandmother’s vision to tell the authentic story of Motown and is presently spearheading a $70M capital campaign to expand the Museum and the creative magnet of Motown that will transform and energize the community. She believes Motown magnifies what is best about Detroiters and tells a story of resilience, persistence, as well as the power of creative synergy. With her continued work and dedication to the development of Detroit and to the preservation of its history, Motown Museum will continue to serve as a beacon in the community and around the world that can inspire the entrepreneurial and creative spirit for generations to come.
